10FINALSTAGECANCER Refresh

LANCASTER, PA – Peggy Murphy (born 11/19/1950) felt much better after Kristin Green at Tangles Salon in Lancaster shaved off her hair and washed her head and massaged it with an oil. Murphy, 57, complained of pain in her hip for years before doctors finally diagnosed it as a recurrence of the breast cancer she thought she had kicked. Murphy (No. 24 in Dr. Leisha Emens’ study) finished Emens first trial in the spring, but her cancer appears to be spreading. She comes to Johns Hopkins for treatment from the home she shares with her daughter and grandchildren near Lancaster, Pennsylvania. PHOTO BY CHIAKI KAWAJIRI
